Game Boards
Design the board of phases that every Quest in an Adventure runs on.
A Game Board is the template for a Quest’s Step Workspace: an ordered set of phases (the board’s columns) and the step types allowed on it. A board is assigned to an Adventure, and every Quest and Step in that Adventure inherits it.
Open Settings → Game Engine (Game Engine Templates). The King and Super Admins can manage boards; others see them read-only.
The default board
Questify ships with Standard Product Delivery, the default for any Adventure without its own board:
| Phase (shown to Heroes) | Functional name |
|---|---|
| Mobilization | To Do |
| On the Mission | In Progress |
| Under Siege | Blocked |
| Victory | Done |
The default board cannot be archived or deleted.
Phases
Each phase has two names:
- Display Name: the gamified name Heroes see on the board.
- Functional Name: a stable name used for reporting and automation. Must be unique on the board.
A board needs at least two phases. The first is where work enters, the last is where it finishes, and a phase whose functional name is Done holds finished work.
Create a board
Click Create Template. The wizard walks you through five steps; nothing is saved until you finish.
Starting Template
Start from Blank (2 columns), Simple (3 columns), or copy an existing template.
Main Info
Template name, description, colour, and whether it starts Active or Draft.
Create Phases
Add columns with their display and functional names, colour and icon.
Step Type
Add the kinds of work allowed on the board. See Step types and workflows.
Assign
Apply it to No one yet, Specific Adventures, or All Adventures, and choose whether it becomes the default board.
Lifecycle
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Fully editable. Never used for live work. |
| Active | Can be assigned to Adventures. Phases are locked. |
| Archived | Kept for history; cannot be used for new work, and cannot be reactivated. |
From a board’s menu you can Edit it, Duplicate it (a Draft copy assigned to nothing), or Delete it. A board that an Adventure still uses cannot be deleted; you are offered Archive instead.
