Time reports

Where logged time shows up: Bird Eye, the Quest clock, and the Adventure time tab.

Development and testing

Every allocated minute is either development or testing, decided by the kind of Step it went to:

  • Testing: Steps of the Testing step type (and Jira Test Task issues).
  • Development: everything else.

The two are always reported side by side and never added together. Time you haven’t allocated yet (stopped sessions waiting for their split, and running timers) is shown next to them, never inside them.

The Quest clock

Besides the hours people log, every Quest has a clock: how long the whole Quest took on the calendar.

StateMeaning
Not startedThe Quest has no Steps yet.
RunningStarted when the first Step was created.
ClosedStopped when the last open Step was closed.
  • The start can move earlier if an older Step joins the Quest, but never later.
  • The close is written once and never moves. Reopening a Step doesn’t undo it, and Steps created after the close are marked Post delivery.
  • Elapsed time is shown both as calendar time and as working time (inside working hours and days). Neither is ever added to logged hours.
  • The deadline is what was promised; the close is what happened. Both are kept.

Bird Eye

Bird Eye is the live picture of a Quest. Open the Bird Eye tab on a Quest page, or the Bird Eye wall from the sidebar for every Quest at once.

What you see depends on your role:

For the King, Admins, Wardens, and the General overseeing the Adventure:

  • Live clocks and the budget against the committed estimate
  • Daily hours for the whole Quest over the last 14 days
  • Where the hours went, by step type
  • The heroes board, the heaviest Steps, risks and the activity feed
  • Time allocations: allocated and awaiting approval, newest first

Adventure time

The Adventure page has a Time tab with the development and testing time of every Quest in the Adventure, and per Hero. It is visible to the King, Admins, and Wardens or Generals overseeing that Adventure.
