Materials

Upload requirement files and add reference links to a Quest.

Materials are the documents the Council prepares for a Quest: requirements, designs, specs and references. You manage them in the Council Hall under Your Contribution Materials.

There are two kinds:

Files

Uploaded documents. A file belongs to the whole Quest: every Council member sees every file. Markdown files are read by the AI estimator.

Links

References such as a Google Doc or a Figma board. A link belongs to your seat, and is marked Reference only: it is never read by the estimator.

Upload a file

Open the Quest in the Council Hall

Select it in My Quests.

Click Upload File

In Your Contribution Materials, pick one file. A progress bar shows the upload, and a toast confirms “name attached”.

Accepted files

Types.md, .markdown, .txt, .csv, .pdf, .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .webp, .mp4, .mov, .webm
SizeUp to 100 MB per file. Empty files are refused.

These are the same rules every Step attachment follows. A video plays in place: click its thumbnail to open the player, where you can also download it.

Write your requirements in Markdown. The AI estimator reads Markdown (.md) files only, and marks them with an Estimator reads badge. Other files are kept for the Council to open but are not part of the estimate.

Uploading a file with the same name as an existing one adds a second file; files are not versioned.

Click Add Link, give it a title (for example “Requirements”) and a full https:// URL. The same URL cannot be added twice.

Who can do what

ActionWho
UploadCouncil members, the King and Super Admins who are part of the Quest.
View and downloadAnyone on the Quest, including Heroes. The King can always list and download a Quest’s files, even without a seat.
Remove a fileOnly the person who uploaded it.

You can only add, remove or change your materials while your status is Pending or Changes Requested. Once you send your work for King review, your contribution is locked until the King responds.

Removing a file hides it from the Quest; it is kept in storage for audit.

Materials and the estimate

Changing files never cancels an estimate automatically. If a Markdown file is added, or a Markdown file the estimate used is removed, the estimate panel shows a banner:

The Markdown files changed after this estimate was produced. It still stands until you estimate again.

The Wizard then decides whether to run Estimate again. See Estimation.

Materials count toward submitting

Each Council member needs at least one link, or at least one file they uploaded themselves, before Send for King Review is enabled. Notes alone do not count. See Submitting and approval.
