Quest types and priority
What Epic, Main, Side and Expedition mean, and how priority works.
Quest types
A large initiative. Goes through the full Council and delivery flow.
The default for regular deliverable work. Full Council and delivery flow.
Smaller work. The only type that can skip Council seats: untick Include in Council Review for any seat, or for all three to proceed without Council review.
An open challenge, outside any Adventure. Heroes join, battle, and the King picks up to four winners who share a coin pool. No Council. See Expeditions.
Epic, Main and Side share the same lifecycle and XP rules; the type helps you organise and filter Quests. You can switch between them later in the Quest’s settings. An Expedition cannot change type.
Priority
Every Quest has a priority, set when it is created:
| Priority | XP weight (default) |
|---|---|
| Lowest | 1.0 |
| Low | 1.5 |
| Medium | 2.5 |
| High | 4.0 |
| Highest | 6.0 |
Priority ranks the Quest against the others in its Adventure, and every Step inherits it. It multiplies the XP each Step is worth, so the same Step on a Highest Quest is worth six times as much as on a Lowest one. See Earning XP.
Native and Jira-linked Quests
All new Quests are native: their work happens in Questify’s own Step Workspace. Older Quests may be Jira-linked: their tasks are synced from a Jira project, show Open in Jira, and follow Jira’s statuses. Most of this documentation describes native Quests.
